Favorites From Home Recipe Contest

Sometimes we reach that time in the year when students begin to reminisce about those comforting meals that come from home. That's why we are offering our innovative "Favorites From Home" program and recipe contest!   Does your mom make the best meat loaf, or your grandma the best apple pie?  Send us the recipes!

Recipes sent in between now and March 1, 2009 will be considered for our basic "Favorites From Home" program. The best recipes will be served in our dining program so that our students and other guests may enjoy these great dishes,  and may also be included in a UMW Favorites From Home Campus Cook Book in the spring (if we get enough entries!).  If we produce the cookbooks, they will be made available at cost to students and other members of our campus community.

The "Favorites From Home Recipe Contest" will run between October 1, 2008 and December 10, 2008.  A panel of judges will select their favorite recipes, which will then be prepared and served in our resident dining program.  Winning recipes will be selected based upon their popularity with the students.  Cash and/or gift card prizes will be awarded to the top three entries, and their recipes will be featured in any subsequent cookbook.  Recipes must be submitted by December 10, 2008 to be eligible for the "Favorites From Home" Recipe Contest.  The contest is open to all UMW students and members of their families.  To enter, please fill out the entry form below.

Please Note:  By submitting this recipe you give permission to University of Mary Washington Dining Services to prepare and serve your dish in our resident dining program.  If your recipe is selected as one of our winners, you are also giving us your permission to reprint your recipe in a UMW Campus Cookbook, which will be made available at cost to students and other members of our campus community.
